Music Education

Preparing tomorrow’s teachers and researchers.

For decades Music Education at Florida State University has led the nation preparing tomorrow’s teachers and researchers.

Our bachelor’s degree graduates seeking a teaching position have enjoyed a 100% placement rate for 50 years and we also lead with our alumni working in university positions. FSU teachers are found all over the nation and across the globe.

Learn in the teacher role

Students in our programs receive comprehensive hands-on teaching experience at all levels so they are ready on day one to be successful educators. Our program will prepare your teacher certification and launch your career in Choral, Instrumental, and Elementary and Secondary General. Our vast network of alumni and professional teachers mean that students have countless resources as they grow into their career.

We build musician teachers

Music education students study privately with some of the best performer/teachers in the world. They also perform in over forty high-level ensembles where they learn their craft as players and conductors.

Strong community

FSU offers the unique combination of a large comprehensive music program with caring personal contact between faculty and students. Our faculty are full-time residential teachers who have vast experience in education and building relationships in the music world. Our students join an amazing family that will support you for your entire career and beyond.
