The items below circulate for three days and there is no limit on the number of these items that you can check out simultaneously. Each item marked with an asterisk (*) requires check out by a full-time library staff member and completion of an AML Media Loan Agreement Form (one time only). While completion of a media loan agreement form is only required for some items, the A/V policies and overdue fines apply to the entire collection. You can view these policies at the bottom of this page.

XLR Cables

Used to connect microphones with recording devices. XLR cables are available in 15-foot and 1-foot lengths. The 1-foot cables are intended primarily to facilitate the use of an external microphone with the Canon video cameras.

A/V Circulation Policies

All items within the Allen Music Library’s A/V Collection are due 3 days from time of check out during business hours. Any items that are more than 24 hours overdue will incur a replacement charge, which may be removed upon return at the discretion of AML Full-time Staff. The patron accepts responsibility for any damages, loss, or overdue fines associated with borrowing the item. If found liable for loss or damages, the patron must pay up to the total value of the borrowed item. This includes a $10 replacement charge for damage to or loss of the insert card found within each item’s case. The replacement prices are listed above and are subject to change based on availability and cost of replacement at time of loss or damage.


In-Library Use Equipment

Two-Hour Loan

These items are available for two-hour checkout at the circulation desk:

  • Android USB-to-Micro USB charging cables
  • Macbook MagSafe power adapter
  • MagSage to MagSafe2 converter
  • Listening station remote controls

In-Library All Day Loan

  • Portable power units available at the circulation desk
    • Use a USB-C or USB-A cable to connect to your device

Printing and Copying

Printers: There are two FSU network black-and-white print stations downstairs. With the appropriate drivers (see the “Print Anywhere” button on the main page) you can send print jobs from your personal laptop or desktop. B&W printing is $0.10/page. Color printers are available in the main library.

Photocopiers: Two black-and-white (upstairs and downstairs) and one color (upstairs). The B&W copiers are $0.10/page, the color $0.25/page. Payment is via your FSU card.

Scanning stations: Two KIC scanning stations (upstairs and downstairs). Scan to PDF or image, save to thumb drive, email, or cloud storage account (Dropbox, Google Drive, Box, or OneDrive).

Slide scanner: A small flatbed scanner is available upstairs. Guide frames for slides and photos are available for checkout at the circulation desk.

Microform scanner: A microfilm and microfiche reader/scanner is upstairs. Note that the attached computer is without internet connection, so saving is via thumbdrive only.

Listening and Viewing

The public computers are not equipped with DVD drives but have software for CD and DVD playback. Optical disc drives are available for checkout at the circulation desk. A viewing station is currently located next to the microform scanner in the reference area. A USB turntable is located in the computer area downstairs for LP-to-digital conversion.

Seminar Room

The seminar room is a smart classroom equipped with a projector, document camera, audio/video playback equipment, smart board, and video conferencing capabilities. When not in use for classroom instruction, it may be reserved group study or (with approval) defenses, interviews, etc. See our policies for more information or ask at the circulation desk to check room availability or make a reservation.
