Many alumni from our Music Industry programs are employed throughout the country, working across both the creative and business sides of the field. Their careers encompass roles such as audio engineering, production, music licensing and publishing, record label operations,  booking agents, artist management, and radio. In addition, a number of our alumni serve as faculty in leading university music programs.

The Music Industry programs place a strong emphasis on collaboration and entrepreneurship, allowing students to build lasting relationships with peers and faculty in a hands-on, career-focused environment. Students will not only learn from faculty members with decades-long experience in the music industry but will also have the opportunity to interface with guest speakers forging seasoned careers at major labels, agencies, and companies in the music industry. Students in this area will also have the chance to gain real-world experience by operating a student-run label.

The Bachelor of Arts in Commercial Music major is an audition-based program designed to provide students a comprehensive understanding of being a creative in today’s music industry. Students in this program might find that they want to have a career on stage as an artist, writing the next hit song as a songwriter or working in the studio as an engineer or producer. In this program, students will learn how to work on both sides of the studio glass, as the artist and engineer, towards the creation of their next project.This degree gives students 24/7 access to two recording studios with state of the art equipment for hands-on learning from renowned recording faculty, and will be prepared to navigate a variety of careers in the recorded music side of the industry, which may include sound engineering, producing, composition, mixing and mastering, etc.

The Bachelor of Arts in Music Business major is a non-audition-based program designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the music industry, blending core aspects of an education in music along with business acumen. This program will give students the necessary skills to be the future leaders of the music industry. Graduates will be prepared to navigate a variety of careers in the music industry at large, which may include artist management, publishing, booking agencies, marketing, digital distribution, etc.
