Wellington (Wells) Gordon is a musician, audio engineer, and educator. He has been performing and recording music within the Mid-Atlantic region for the past 24 years. Wells earned the B.S. in Recording Industry Management with an emphasis in production and technology from Middle Tennessee State University. He would later return to school to earn the B.M. in Jazz Studies (upright and electric bass) from North Carolina Central University. During his time at NCCU he began teaching music production classes as an adjunct. Upon completing the B.M., Wells attended Western Carolina University and earned the M.M. in bass performance with additional studies in commercial music.
Wells has held teaching positions Elizabeth City State University, Husson University (The New England School of Communications), and Virginia State University.
At home in traditional recording studio environments, Wells enjoys working with singer-songwriters and a broad range of genres and collaborators. He also works as an on-location recording engineer for the Washington, D.C.-based classical recording company, Arts Laureate. Some of the clients he has worked with include the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra, Mount Vernon Virtuosi, Virginia Chorale, Washington Master Chorale, Capitol Wind Symphony, Imani Winds, and Wizard School of Composers.
His research interests include topics in ear training and music production. Wells has published papers on the topics of music proficiency in sound recording technology programs, cloud-based music production, and technical ear training.
