Apply To Be A Counselor
If you are interested in working as a counselor for Summer 2026, please submit the interest form and video statement (see below) by February 15, 2026 at 11:59pm EST. Following our review of all applications, new candidates selected for 2nd round consideration will be invited to a Zoom interview. New applicants are currently scheduled to interview on Sunday, March 1, 2026. Returning counselors will NOT need to do an interview and will be contacted directly about employment following our review of all applications and new applicant interviews.
Candidates selected for Summer 2026 employment will be required to complete hiring paperwork, including a background check. Employment is not finalized and work may not begin until all required paperwork is submitted and a cleared background check result has been received.
Video Statement
On the interest form you will be required to include a hyperlink to a video statement that you have pre-recorded. Please upload your video to YouTube, and set your video to “Unlisted”, which will keep it private but enable us to view it via the link you provide. We will not accept video files via Dropbox or Google Drive.
For Returning Counselors:
Your video should include an introduction of yourself, including your name and year in school, and the answers to the following questions:
- What is the main reason you are choosing to re-apply for a position with Summer Music Camps?
- What you would consider to be your greatest strength as a counselor for Summer Music Camps, and why?
- What do you feel like you can improve upon the most if asked to return as a counselor for this coming Summer?
For New Applicants:
Your video should include:
- An introductions of yourself (including information such as name, age, major, year in school, hometown, any relevant background information)
- Tell us why are you applying to be a counselor at the Florida State University Summer Music Camps?
- What are some strengths you possess that would make you a strong applicant for this position?
