College of Music Welcomes New Faculty

Please join us as we welcome our newest faculty members to the College of Music!

This fall the College welcomes four new assistant professors: Genevieve Clarkson (tuba and euphonium), Anna Dmytrenko (piano), Rachel Hottle (music theory), and Tiffany Renée Jackson (voice). Their accomplishments are many and varied – click on their names or photos to learn more!

Genevieve Clarkson
Assistant Professor of Tuba and Euphonium
Dr. Genevieve Clarkson received the DM in Tuba Performance from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, the MM in Tuba Performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, and the BM in Music Education from James Madison University. She has been featured as a soloist and clinician at a variety of conferences and workshops, including the Midwest Clinic, the International Tuba-Euphonium Conference, the International Women’s Brass Conference, and the Army Band Tuba-Euphonium Workshop. Clarkson performs globally with the Magnolia Brass Quintet and In Motus Tuba Quartet, spanning venues from the Kennedy Center to the Harbin Concert Hall in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, China.

Anna Dmytrenko
Assistant Professor of Piano
Ukrainian-American pianist Dr. Anna Dmytrenko is an international prize-winning soloist who has performed at venues like Carnegie Hall and the Paris Philharmonie. She received the bachelor’s degree with Regents Award from the Royal Academy of Music in London, two master’s degrees in Solo and Chamber Music from the Universität der Künste in Berlin, and the DMA from the Manhattan School of Music. Dmytrenko completed Harvard Business School’s Credential of Readiness (CORe) program with honors, reflecting her interest in exploring the intersections of music, leadership, and professional development. With a career that bridges international performance, research, and education, she is committed to inspiring the next generation of musicians while bringing audiences powerful and transformative concert experiences.

Rachel Hottle
Assistant Professor of Music Theory
Dr. Rachel Hottle studies questions of embodiment, instrumentality, form, and narrative in popular music, with particular interest in the music of the American folk revival. She earned the B.A. from Swarthmore College and the M.A. and Ph.D. in Music Theory with a concentration in gender and women’s studies from McGill University. Her research has been published in Music Theory Online and presented at major national conferences. Hottle was awarded the 2025 SMT-40 Dissertation Fellowship for her project, “Elizabeth Cotten, Joni Mitchell, and the Guitar/Body Interface” and currently serves as Secretary of the Popular Music Interest Group for the Society for Music Theory.

Tiffany Renée Jackson
Assistant Professor of Voice
Dr. Tiffany Renée Jackson is an internationally recognized singer, pedagogue, scholar, composer, and interdisciplinary artist. An alumna of the University of Michigan, Yale School of Music, Manhattan School of Music, and the University of Connecticut, her diverse opera and concert career includes performances at celebrated concert halls around the globe. While firmly rooted in the classical tradition, Jackson’s artistic work increasingly explores the intersections of jazz, spirituals, and contemporary performance.  As an educator and entrepreneur, Jackson is the Founder, Program Director, and Artistic Director of The Paris Performance Experience, an innovative two-week international performing arts intensive for emerging artists, and brings a global, multidisciplinary perspective to her teaching and creative scholarship at Florida State University.


The College of Music would like to extend a warm welcome to these incoming faculty and to all of our returning faculty and staff. We look forward to another excellent year of learning and music-making with all of you!
