FSU College of Music presents Khemia Ensemble in a Multimedia Housewright Virtuoso Series Performance
The Florida State University College of Music is proud to welcome the acclaimed Khemia Ensemble to the Opperman Music Hall on March 10, 2026, at 7:30 pm. As part of the prestigious Housewright Virtuoso Series, the ensemble will present all the lives we lived, an immersive program blending contemporary chamber music with multimedia art and diverse genre influences.
Derived from the Greek word for chemistry (χημεία), Khemia Ensemble is a collective of artist-educators, described by Chamber Music America as “bold, visionary, and courageous.” With a unique instrumentation of soprano, flute, clarinet, violin, cello, piano, and two percussionists, they have premiered over 130 works and held residencies across North and South America.
Khemia Ensemble’s “All the Lives We Lived” program is rooted in nostalgia and the eclectic musical influences we grew up loving. Fusing our contemporary chamber music sensibility with a nod to rock, pop, theater, and folk genres, you’ll be drawn into the wide-ranging soundscape of classical music of today, including a Chamber Music America sponsored commission by Anuj Bhutani, whose work inspired our program’s theme. Attendees will experience several world premieres and Khemia commissions, enhanced by the live animations of Paige Douglas.
“We are artist educators who believe in representing a diverse range of voices… we share our love for compelling music, inclusive place-making, and authentic storytelling.”
