The Florida State University College of Music is thrilled to welcome Dr. Genevieve Clarkson to the faculty as our new Assistant Professor of Tuba and Euphonium. Clarkson arrives in Tallahassee from Oklahoma City University, bringing a rich, multi-faceted background that includes performances in some of the world’s most prestigious concert halls from the Kennedy Center to China’s Harbin Concert Hall. An acclaimed soloist and chamber musician with the Magnolia Brass Quintet and In Motus Tuba Quartet, Clarkson is equally celebrated for her pedagogical innovation. She has recently earned top honors from Oklahoma City University for teaching excellence and has served for several years on faculty at the Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute and as the Lead Tuba Instructor for the world-class Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps. Our brass students will benefit immensely from her elite artistry, global performance experience, and passionate dedication to student mentorship.
