Sudarat Songsiridej
| Sudarat Songsiridej is a Music Specialist for the College of Music, the School of Theatre, and the School of Dance. She works with the BM and BFA Music Theatre Program and serves as a Music Director/Pianist/Arranger for the annual FSU Music Theatre New York Showcase, Pianist/Music Coach for the Music Theatre classes, and Advisor for the annual Music Theatre Cabaret. Her additional responsibilities include playing for the Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts and the Post Playhouse annual auditions at FSU. She has also served as an Assistant Music Director for the School of Theatre Fall and Spring Musicals for twenty-some years. She has worked as a Dance Musician at the FSU School of Dance since she was a student. The new Certificate for Dance Accompanying Program, a collaboration between the college of Music and the School of Dance, begins with the Foundations of Dance Accompanying course under her tutelage. Sudarat has collaborated with renowned artists in the field of music theatre and dance, such as Ann Reinking, Maltby and Shire, John Bucchino, Suzanne Farrell, Jawole Willa Jo Zollar, and Miki Orihara. Notably, she has also played masterclasses for esteemed figures like Violette Verdy, the Martha Graham Dance Company, and Dante Puleio of Limon Dance Company, as well as composing and arranging dance music for choreographers which include Joe Goode, Lynn Wimmer, and Libby Patenaude. As a member of the International Guild of Musicians in Dance, Sudarat continues to contribute to the field of dance music. Prior to her tenure at Florida State University, Sudarat served as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Music for the Dance Department at the University of South Florida from 1996 to 1997. Beyond her FSU work, Sudarat has held the position of Music Director for CAST, the Center of the Arts School of Theatre, for over a decade and Music Director for a musical parody cabaret group called “The Laughing Stock” for 25 years. Currently, she holds the position of Company Pianist for the Pas de Vie Ballet. Occasionally, she also enjoys presenting solo performances. Sudarat holds a Bachelor of Music (BM) in Piano Performance from the Eastman School of Music, a Master of Music (MM) in Piano Performance from the Juilliard School, and a Master of Music (MM) in Piano Pedagogy from Florida State University. She has also completed the Somatic Voicework™ Certification Courses, LoVetri Method I-III from the Contemporary Commercial Music Institute at Shenandoah University, and the LoVetri Institute at Baldwin Wallace University. |
