FSU Jazz Ensemble I presents “Celebrating Duke Ellington and Wayne Shorter: Two Icons of Jazz Composition”
The University’s top jazz ensemble concludes their 2024-2025 season with a program that celebrates Duke Ellington and Wayne Shorter, two of the genre’s most iconic composers. The first half of the program will focus on the works of Duke Ellington, including “A Tone Parallel to Harlem”; the second half will focus on the Jazz at Lincoln Center recording of “The Music of Wayne Shorter” with faculty member David Detweiler standing in as featured saxophonist.
