The FSU College of Music and College of Music Center for Student Success present “Contemplative Practice: Mindfulness-Based Wellness and Pedagogy,” a lecture by Dr. Frank Diaz, Associate Professor of Music Education at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.
ABOUT THE GUEST SPEAKER
Frank M. Diaz, Ph.D., is an associate professor of music education at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and affiliate faculty for the Department of Cognitive Science. Dr. Diaz teaches courses on instrumental music education, graduate research, and musicians’ wellness. He is also the founder and former Director of the Institute for Mindfulness-Based Wellness and Pedagogy, an organization of artists, educators, and researchers committed to sharing mindfulness-based approaches to improve teaching, performance, and general wellbeing. Dr. Diaz’s work on music and mindfulness has been featured in numerous peer-reviewed and trade journals, on podcasts, as well as on CNN, the Huffington Post, NPR, and other media outlets.
