Summer Master of Music Education Program

Summer Master of Music Education Degree in Tallahassee and London, UK.

Florida State University College of Music is pleased to offer a summers-only program that provides the opportunity for music educators to earn a traditional master’s degree without leaving your teaching position. All degree requirements are completed in three (3) summers by taking either 10 or 12 hours per summer, (depending on the track), including a personalized independent study. Accommodation can be made for those desiring part time enrollment, though graduation cannot occur until degree completion. The third summer term is completed at the FSU Study Centre in London, England, bringing global perspective in this leading cultural city.

“I changed as a teacher in many ways because of the Summer MME program—it’s hard to pick a few things! Effective conducting gestures, rehearsal strategies, and vocal technique were my main takeaways from the program, in terms of content. I was also shaped as an artist through the program, and this has had the greatest effect on my own students.”

Enrich Your Teaching

“Completing the final summer in London was one of the best experiences in my life. Beyond the obvious—which is living in London—I have developed some of the best friends because of my time there. Being able to HOLD original transcripts from Holst, see where he wrote The Planets, watch musicals in The West End, get private lessons on conducting and then conduct insanely talented musicians at the Royal College of Music….these are memories that don’t fade. They are etched into your memory forever—amazing rewarding experience.”

“My favorite thing about the Summer MME program at FSU was undoubtedly my classmates. The musical, professional, and personal connections that I made at FSU have shaped me beyond measure, and the Summer MME program facilitated that.  FSU Summer MME was one of the best decisions of my life—and I recommend it unequivocally.”
