Suzanne Rita Byrnes

Suzanne Rita Byrnes is a member of the Music Education faculty at FSU (TESOL in the Music Classroom, Elementary Methods, Early Childhood Music Education, Orff Schulwerk), and directs the FSU Capital Children’s Choir. Byrnes hails from Ottawa, Canada. She completed the Bachelor of Music degrees (Honors in School Music, flute) and Master’s of Music (Choral Conducting) at McGill University in Montreal, and the Bachelor of Education (Music and English) at Université d’Ottawa. She also completed the Master of Education degree in TESOL at the University of Cincinnati. She earned the doctorate in Music Education from FSU. After graduating from FSU, Byrnes taught as an adjunct at the University of Missouri in Kansas City (choral arranging, methods), founded and was the director of the Kansas City Children’s Chorus for 12 years, and owned and operated a Kindermusik Studio for 8 years. Upon her return to Tallahassee, Byrnes was hired as an adjunct instructor at the College of Music.
