Shayna Stahl

Dr. Shayna Stahl is the Associate Director of Bands/Director of Athletic Bands at the University of Kentucky. In this role, Dr. Stahl serves as the Director of the “Wildcat Marching Band,” the UK Pep Bands, and as the conductor of the UK Symphony Band.

Prior to her appointment at the University of Kentucky, Dr. Stahl was Associate Director of Bands and Director of Athletic Bands at UNC Charlotte. She was the conductor of the Symphonic Band and taught courses in conducting and marching band techniques. Before UNC Charlotte, Dr. Stahl served for three years as the Director of Athletic Bands at Stony Brook University and seven years as the Coordinator of Athletic Bands. While serving as the Coordinator of Athletic Bands, she also taught for seven years as a music educator in the Middle Country Central School District, where she taught Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, and Jazz Band.

Dr. Stahl holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Temple University, a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies from Stony Brook University, a Master of Music Education/Wind Band Conducting from The Hartt School at the University of Hartford, and a Doctor of Musical Arts in Instrumental Conducting from the University of Washington. Dr. Stahl is an active guest conductor, clinician, judge, and drill writer across the United States. She is currently a member of the College Band Directors National Association, National Association for Music Education, National Band Association, Women Band Directors International, Sigma Alpha Iota, and an honorary member of Kappa Kappa Psi.
