Rachel Sorenson

Rachel Sorenson is Assistant Professor of Music Education at Kennesaw State University in Georgia, where she teaches music education courses, supervises student teachers, and conducts one of the university concert bands. Prior to joining the faculty at Kennesaw State University, Sorenson taught middle and high school band in Florida and remains actively engaged in the band profession through conducting, clinician work, and teacher development. Sorenson received the Bachelor of Music Education from Stetson University and the Master of Music Education and PhD from Florida State University. She remains actively engaged with band directors and music educators through clinics, professional development presentations, and mentorship of future music teachers. In addition to her work with bands and music teacher education, she maintains an active research agenda with publications appearing in several leading music education journals.
