Joe Goldberg

Joe Goldberg is Adjunct Assistant Professor of Jazz at the Florida State University College of Music, where he teaches Jazz Styles and Analysis and directs a specialized Jazz Combo. An FSU alumnus with degrees in music alongside minors in physics and mathematics, he spent years under the mentorship of legendary pianist Marcus Roberts, joining his ensemble, The Modern Jazz Generation, in 2012. Goldberg’s extensive career includes seven years immersed in the New Orleans jazz scene collaborating with premier local luminaries, as well as regular performances fronting the Joe Goldberg Quartet and his seven-piece swing ensemble, Joe Goldberg & the Function. Most recently, he was featured as a clarinet soloist and tenor saxophonist on the Cincinnati Pops’ 2026 release, Harlem Renaissance.
