Grade Appeals

Students may appeal grades they feel they have received unjustly. The Grade Appeal procedure is taken very seriously at Florida State, and students must follow proper procedures and guidelines as outlined in the University Bulletin or the FSU Student Handbook. The first step in the appeals process is for the student to contact the instructor of the course in which a disputed grade was received and to thoroughly discuss the situation with the instructor. In most cases, contacting the instructor will resolve any differences regarding grades.

Taking an Overload

Students seeking to take more than 18 hours must request approval in 204C HMU:

  • With a Dean’s approval, students may take a maximum of 21 hours in a term.
  • Typically, College of Music Scholarship students should not enroll for fewer than 12 hours (Summer terms excluded).
  • Contact the Financial Aid Office if receiving aid; certain scholarships and awards stipulate minimum course loads.

Readmission

Music students who have been out more than one year and have not completed applied music requirements must complete an audition into the College of Music prior to readmission.
