Florida State University’s Associate Professor of Musicology, Dr. Panayotis “Paddy” League, was recognized with a Bronze Medal from the Global Music Awards for his album Bedroom Volume. It was the only album in the Indie category to receive honors in the Winter 2025-2026 cycle.
Established in 2011, the Global Music Awards is a prestigious international competition that provides recognition for independent musicians based solely on merit rather than sales. By earning these honors, artists gain industry legitimacy that can help secure bookings, attract A&R executives, and land record deals. Ultimately, these awards serve as a strategic partner in an artist’s career, offering the credibility needed to stand out on a global stage.

Bedroom Volume is League’s second album of 11 original songs, following his 2024 album Medicine Ball. He described the album as an exploration of various kinds of intimate relationships, “from romantic love to family, to failed and betrayed friendship, and death.” The album’s title refers not only to relationships, but also to League’s composition process.
“I composed everything late at night, trying to be as quiet as possible, so as not to annoy my ill-humored then-downstairs neighbor.” League tapped into his multi-instrumental talents for this project, playing guitar, drums, percussion, keyboards, accordion, and singing vocals. He even recorded handclaps “with the help of Dollar Tree latex gloves.”
However, Bedroom Volume is not simply a product of League’s individual efforts. Collaboration with other musicians lies at the heart of Bedroom Volume, reflecting the themes of intimate relationships. The album features performances by music faculty from both FSU and FAMU; Noël Wan (harp) and Geoffrey Deibel (saxophone) from the FSU College of Music, and Brian Hall (bass) from the FAMU Department of Music. Additionally, FSU College of Music alumni Perry Osborn (guitar) and Chris Seepersaud (keyboards) contributed to the album. Bedroom Volume was recorded and engineered by Kyle Aligood at the historic Gasoline Alley Recording Studios, located on Lake Bradford near Doak Campbell Stadium and the FAMU campus.
League plans to present a Bedroom Volume release concert on Friday, April 3rd at North Flora Collective in Railroad Square, followed by a Latin dance party.
