The Florida State University College of Music is proud to present “String Faculty and Friends,” a special evening of chamber music featuring esteemed faculty from four renowned institutions—Yale, Eastman, Bard, and FSU. This extraordinary collaboration will take place on Wednesday, February 19, at 7:30 p.m. in Longmire Recital Hall, showcasing works by Joseph Haydn, Caroline Shaw, and Johannes Brahms.
This event marks an exciting milestone for the College of Music as we livestream a faculty performance for the first time using our new in-house streaming system. Through this initiative, we are thrilled to expand access to our performances, allowing audiences near and far to experience the artistry of our faculty and guest musicians.
The evening will feature performances by Yale violinist Wendy Sharp, Bard violist Marka Gustavsson, and Eastman cellist Mimi Hwang, who will join FSU faculty members Corinne Stillwell (violin), Pamela Ryan (viola), and Greg Sauer (cello) for a program that culminates in the monumental Brahms Sextet No. 2 in G Major, Op. 36. In addition to the concert, each guest artist will offer individual masterclasses throughout the week, providing FSU students with invaluable learning opportunities.
