Two Florida State University College of Music alumni have reached the pinnacle of musical achievement, bringing home GRAMMY Awards in their respective categories at the 2024 ceremony.

Ryan Reynolds (DM ’17) was honored with the award for Best Instrumental Composition for Are We Dreaming the Same Dream, performed by the Akropolis Reed Quintet. Competing against renowned artists such as André 3000, Béla Fleck, and the late Chick Corea, Reynolds and Akropolis secured a new and deeply gratifying victory.
“This is one of the most gratifying experiences I’ve had in my career,” said Reynolds. “The win feels like a culmination of the 16-year journey Akropolis has been on—we climbed a mountain for the accolade, and now that we’ve reached the peak, there’s a whole new landscape in front of us that I’m excited to explore.”
Reynolds credits his time at FSU for shaping him as both an artist and educator. “The faculty at the College of Music created an environment that supported Akropolis’ burgeoning tour schedule at that time. In addition to helping form me as an artist, my teacher Jeff Keesecker gave me the tools and skills I needed to become an educator, another important role I embrace within the work Akropolis does.”

Jamison Ross (BA ’10) secured his first GRAMMY as a producer on Best Progressive R&B Album winner So Glad to Know You by Avery*Sunshine. A celebrated drummer, vocalist, and producer, Ross described the win as a moment of deep gratitude and reflection.
“Winning my first GRAMMY is an indescribable feeling—one of deep gratitude, joy, and reflection,” said Ross. “Being recognized for my work as the producer on So Glad to Know You is an incredible honor. This album is a testament to love, vulnerability, and musical intention, and I’m beyond grateful to have been part of bringing it to life.”
Ross extended his appreciation to Avery*Sunshine and the entire team behind the project. “Avery is a force of nature, and it’s a privilege to collaborate and create with her. To everyone who poured their hearts into this project, from the musicians to the engineers and the entire team, this moment belongs to all of us.”
Both Reynolds and Ross join a distinguished legacy of FSU College of Music alumni making waves in the music industry. Their GRAMMY wins stand as a testament to the world-class education and artistic excellence fostered at Florida State University.
