Florida State University College of Music Announces 2024-25 Season
TALLAHASSEE, FL, June 21, 2024 – The Florida State University College of Music is thrilled to unveil its highly anticipated 2024-25 season, a spectacular lineup of performances showcasing the exceptional talents of our students, faculty, and renowned guest artists. This season promises an eclectic array of musical experiences that will captivate and inspire audiences of all ages. From the triumphant melodies of Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5 to the enchanting fairy-tale opera Hänsel und Gretel, and from the soulful jazz standards performed by Etienne Charles to the dynamic wind band literature of the University Wind Ensemble, there is something for everyone.
The season kicks off with a spectacular faculty showcase concert on August 29, featuring Stravinsky’s L’Histoire du soldat and the neoclassical Octet. This opening event is a celebration of our vibrant musical community and sets the tone for an unforgettable year of music.
Our Concert Series is an essential part of the FSU music experience, featuring professional-level ensembles that include choral, orchestral, and wind music, as well as big bands and jazz combos. These performances highlight the immense talent within the College of Music and provide an excellent introduction to the musical offerings of our institution. In contrast, the Housewright Virtuoso Series brings a global perspective to our stage, presenting world-renowned artists and our esteemed faculty in an eclectic mix of musical styles. This series is a unique opportunity to witness some of the most distinguished musicians in the world, all free of charge.
Special Events are distinct from our regular series, consisting of ticketed, stand-alone performances that often feature collaborations with notable artists and ensembles. UMA members enjoy exclusive benefits such as advanced ticket purchasing for these events. Through our partnership with Opening Nights, we elevate our offerings by bringing celebrated performers like the Count Basie Orchestra and Boston Brass with Imani Winds, enriching our community and providing our students with invaluable learning experiences through masterclasses and presentations.
