2022 Florida Guitar Festival

The 2022 Florida Guitar Festival was a resounding success. This past weekend, the College of Music was filled with guitar players from across the country, the KMU lounge was lined with guitars from vendors, and there were plenty of masterclasses and concerts for all to enjoy. This edition of the festival celebrated Professor of Guitar and Guitar Program Director Bruce Holzman’s 50th year at FSU.

The festival was a combination of masterclasses, lectures, and performances for all ages and skill levels. It was kicked off Friday night by the McCallie School Guitar Ensemble from Chattanooga, Tennessee, and was followed up the next day with the first rounds of the competition and four concurrent masterclasses led by premier performers and professors Alec Holcomb, Stephen Robinson, Adam Holzman, and Tom Johnson. Saturday afternoon and evening finished with a lecture by Ciyadh Wells and a concert by Silviu Ciulei and Isaac Bustos. Sunday, the final day of the festival, featured more workshops and masterclasses, the final rounds of the competition, and one final performance accompanied by an awards ceremony.

The College of Music thanks the FSU Classical Guitar Society for hosting the event in our buildings.
