Faculty members from the FSU College of Music collaborate with Israel's Netanya Chamber Orchestra in their Centennial Series, a program featuring works representative of pivotal moments of the past three centuries. FSU's Director of Orchestra Activities, Dr. Alexander Jiménez, conducted several works, while Dr. Jonathan Holden, Assistant Professor of Clarinet, joined the ensemble as soloist for Ellen Taafe Zwilich's Clarinet Concerto, a composition shaped by the events of 9/11.
College of Music Professor Dr. Alice-Ann Darrow and alumnus Josh Bula (PhD Music Education, 2011) were recognized at the 2015 FMEA conference. Darrow, the Irvin Cooper Professor of Music Therapy and Music Education, was named “Collegiate Music Educator," an award which recognizes a music educator’s exemplary service to students, community, and profession. FSU Alumnus Dr. Josh Bula (PhD Music Education, 2011) received FMEA’s “Distinguished Service” award, reserved for individuals outside the field of professional music education who demonstrate exceptional service to or support of music education.
Dr. John W. Parks, IV was recently elected to voting membership in Recording Arts Academy, founders of the annual GRAMMY award for excellence in the recording arts.
