FSU College of Music Welcomes Housewright Eminent Scholars

Every year, the Florida State University College of Music welcomes multiple Housewright Eminent Scholars to campus, thanks in part to a generous endowment by the late Wiley and Lucilla Housewright. This year’s Housewright Eminent Scholars feature: David Russell (classical guitar), Joel Lester (music theory), and Evangelos Himonides (music education). The three scholars have residencies at the College of Music for the spring 2019 semester.

19th Biennial Festival of New Music to Feature Renowned Guest Composer and Ensemble

The 19th Biennial Festival of New Music (January 30 – February 2, 2019) will be held at the Florida State University College of Music,  including masterclasses and presentations by guest artists, plus seven different concerts featuring acoustic and electroacoustic compositions for both small and large ensembles. The residencies of the featured artists Georg Friedrich Haas and Meitar Ensemble are provided by the Wiley and Lucilla Housewright Eminent Scholar Chair in Music. Additional funding for the Festival of New Music is provided by the Florida State University College of Music.


C.P.E. Bach at 300 Festival

The “C. P. E Bach at 300 Festival” features three days of concerts and lectures celebrating the life, music, and influence of Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach. The festival is presented through a partnership with the FSU College of Music and the Tallahassee Bach Parley, takes place from Friday, November 21 until Sunday, November 23, 2014.
