Beyond The Basics
The FSU Marching Band Leadership and Color Guard Camp is focused on building exceptional team leaders through comprehensive music and leadership instruction. This unique experience is designed for high school students who are involved (or want to be involved) in the leadership of their marching band. It is ideal for all drum majors, section leaders, band captains, and color guard (flags and rifles only).
Leadership Dynamics...Inside and Out
Campers will work outdoors on the Marching Chiefs practice field from 8:30am-11:30am daily. Campers will participate in activities designed to build communication skills, develop confidence with group interactions and peer-to-peer communication, using block drills, demonstrations, small group activities, and more.
From 1pm-4:30pm campers will work indoors in large and small groups on score analysis, conducting styles, and techniques. Topics include creating high standards for your band, maintaining personal motivation and positive attitudes, and fostering responsibility and respect.
Color Guard Training
In addition to leadership training, Color Guard members will receive instruction in choreography, show routine, and body work from former FSU Color Guard Captain, Sidney Clarke-Lequerique.

Be A Part Of The Tradition
Campers must be attending grades 9-12 in the '18-’19 school year AND have at least one year of high school marching band experience.
Open to beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels.
No audition is required.
Campers may attend as an Overnight Camper or a Day Camper.
- Cost for Overnight Campers: $480.00. This includes tuition, housing, and three meals per day.
- Cost for Day Campers: $310.00. This includes tuition only.

Campers may wish to bring a small amount of extra money for snacks and optional recreation activities. More information is provided in the camp handbook.
Campers who are also attending the Band Camp for Senior High may wish to stay overnight in the dorm on the night in between the two camps (7/6). The cost for this additional night is $50.00; the price includes the extra housing, supervision, and all extra meals. Campers can sign up for this extra night after they are registered for camp.
Dates & Times
Campers check-in on Sunday, July 7 between 11:00am-2:30pm.
Campers check-out after the final Pass & Review on Friday, July 12. The event begins at 2:30pm in Ruby Diamond Concert Hall and is anticipated to end at approximately 3:30pm.

All campers must bring their instrument* with them to camp - preferably their marching instrument. Drummers should bring sticks only. Color guard should bring their flag/rifle. Campers may also wish to bring conducting gloves and baton if they have them but it is not required.
*Instruments will be used in the afternoons indoors for score analysis and other small group work.
If you do not own your own instrument, we suggest speaking with your music teacher about borrowing your school instrument for the duration of camp.

There are no wait lists at this time.
Registration opens on January 7. Once all spaces have been filled for a particular instrument we will start a wait list.
If there is a wait list when you go to register, you will need to call our office at 850-644-9934 to be placed on the wait list instead. Wait lists are first-come, first-serve; no deposit is required to be placed on the wait list. If a spot becomes available then we will call the first person on the wait list and offer the spot. They will have 48 hours to register before we move on to the next person on the wait list.
