Arriving/Departing

Expand All
Checking In

All camp check-in’s take place on a Sunday. Please refer to the web page or your camp handbook for the date and time for your specific camp. You will sign-up for an arrival time slot when you register. For the best camp experience you need to plan to arrive at camp during your designated check-in. For extenuating circumstances where a camper can not arrive during the designated check-in block, please contact our office.

Frequently Asked Questions About Check-In:

How long will check-in last?
It depends on your camp. Some camps have placement auditions which must be completed before you can check-in at the dorm.  You should allow at least two hours to check in, do a placement audition, go to the dorm and get settled.  It may take longer depending on how long the line is at your placement audition room.

Do I need a parent with me at check in?
As long as you are paid in full and have completed all of your required camp forms, you do not need a parent to check you in.  If you will not have a parent/guardian with you at check-in, be sure to come prepared with everything you need, such as money to sign up for private lessons, your placement audition music, and everything on the camp packing list!  You may wish to contact the camp office prior to check in to be sure everything is all set for you to check in without a parent/guardian.

Can I drive myself to camp?
Yes.  If you are driving to camp and are a night camper, you will check in and then park your car at the Southgate Parking Garage where is need to remain for the week.  You can not drive your car once you are checked in.  You will be able to check yourself out and drive yourself home at the end of camp.

Do I have to attend check in every week if I’m coming to multiple sessions?
Yes.  At each check in the camper will receive a new name tag and/or materials that are pertinent to that camp.  If the camp has a placement audition, you will do a new placement audition each week.  If you are being checked out on Saturday at the end of the first camp, you will need to pick an arrival time slot fo the second week and your family will check you back in for the second camp.  If you are staying overnight in the dorm during the night in-between (see Extra Night of Housing), then you will be brought over on Sunday by the counselors with all of the other students that are staying over.

Checking Out

All camps end with a final performance or event. After the final performance/event, campers meet up with their families and then return to the dorm where they will collect their belongings and check-out. Please refer to the web page for your camp, or your camp handbook for the date and time of the final performance for your specific camp.

If someone other than the parent(s) on the camp registration will be signing the camper out from camp, please be sure that they are listed on the sign-out permissions form.

Staying For Multiple Sessions

What’s better than coming to a camp at FSU? Coming to MANY camps at FSU!

If you are joining us for more than one camp or sessions this summer, and your camp sessions are consecutive, you have two options:

      1. check-out from the first camp during regular check-out and spend the night off campus
      2. stay overnight in the dorm between the two camps

If you wish to stay overnight in the dorm, you need to purchase an Extra Night of Hosing.

  • Extra nights are $75.00/night and include the extra housing, all extra meals, and supervision.
  • You can purchase extra nights in your online account during registration, or anytime after you are registered.

If the second (or third, or fourth) camp has a placement audition, you will do a new placement audition each week.

Please be aware of all University Parking Lot restrictions.  University Lots are available for parking on weekdays AFTER 10pm and all day Saturday and Sunday. All other times require permits.

You do not need a permit for check-in day, or to attend any performances. Details about where to park for check-in and concerts will be provided in the handbook.

Day Camper Parking

Day-campers driving themselves to camp each day should purchase an FSU camp parking permit .  This parking permit will allow for you to park in any un-gated Faculty/Staff/Student parking spot on campus.  That includes the Palm Court Parking Lot, the Call Street Garage, and the campus lots near the Marching Chiefs practice fields.

Camp parking permits are available for purchase in your Active camp account.  You can purchase them during registration or after you have registered but no later than MAY 28 for June camps, or JUNE 10 for JULY CAMPS.   Parking permits are $TBA/week (we are waiting for FSU to announce the price for this summer).   Parking permits are NON-REFUNDABLE.

Day campers who will be dropped-off each morning, and picked-up each afternoon do not need any kind of permit.   Click here for the drop-off map.

Overnight Camper Parking

Overnight campers who drive themselves to camp do NOT need to purchase a parking permit. Students can park in the Southgate Parking Garage for free. Students are not allowed to drive during camp and will need to turn in their keys to the dorm staff upon arrival.

Shuttle Service

Expand All

If you choose to send your camper to Tallahassee via plane or bus, you have the option to arrange for our staff to pick up your child. This service is intended for campers traveling by themselves.

Shuttle Availability

Locations that we have service to and from:
Tallahassee International Airport (TLH)
Greyhound at 112 W Tennessee St
Red Coach Bus Doak Campbell Stadium Stop

We are located approximately 15 minutes from the Tallahassee International airport, and the Red Coach bus has an on-campus stop.

How It Works

Shuttle service is available for a fee of $30.oo each way.  You can choose to be picked-up, drop-off, or both.

For Pick-Ups: Campers will be met by a uniformed member of our staff. They will assist in baggage claim and then bring the camper directly to check-in or to the dorm depending on arrival time. Remember to keep our housing policy in mind when making your travel arrangements. An extra night in the dorm is required if you are arriving the day before check-in, anytime between midnight and 8am on the day of check-in, OR departing the day after check-out.

Be sure to look closely at check-in times to make sure that the flight or bus you are selecting gets the camper to Tallahassee with enough time to be picked-up and complete all check-in activities so they don’t feel rushed or miss out on anything.

For Drop-Off: While at camp, campers will work with their counselor to get packed and ready at the appropriate time for their return trip. We suggest that airline travel be scheduled no earlier than two hours after the end of the final concert.  Be sure to look closely at performance times to make sure that the flight or bus you are selecting allows for your camper to perform, go back to the dorm and get their bags, drive to the location and check-in for the flight/bus with ample time.

How To Order Service

Shuttle service can be purchased online through your Active account during registration, or anytime after you are registered up until two weeks prior to the start of your camp.

Once you have paid for shuttle service online, you will be provided with a Shuttle Service form where you will give us the details of the campers arrival and/or departure.

Price for 2024 service is $30.00 each way.
