As Community Engagement Manager for the College of Music at Florida State University, Evangeline Ciupek brings her passion for collaboration and co-creation to the College’s community music initiatives. She focuses on nurturing meaningful partnerships between the College of Music and communities throughout Tallahassee and beyond, providing opportunities for students to develop their passion, skills, and determination. She works closely with the College’s Resident Community Partners on continuing mutually beneficial collaborations, and she is developing intern and engagement opportunities for students in community music.
Evangeline’s interests have continually revolved around the art of co-creation and the development of collaborative works in and for the community. For her M.A. in Theatre Studies (FSU), she directed, co-wrote, and composed original music for a devised rock opera The Dora Project, a performance component of her thesis project. A musician as well, Evangeline has played in various groups as a guitarist and drummer, specializing in rock, prog rock, country, folk, and punk genres.
For over a decade, Evangeline has been an active part of the Tallahassee arts community. She ran a 501(c)3 nonprofit performing arts company, where she coordinated volunteers and collaborated closely with other community organizations. She has worked at Tallahassee Community College (TCC) as an adjunct instructor of theatre, writing center editor, and theatre director for TCC’s main stage shows. She was also the sound engineer for Monticello Opera House, where she mixed and ran live sound for various touring music acts and musical theatre productions. She has also designed soundscapes for various theatre productions.
She brought her passion for collaboration back to Florida State University during her time with the Office of Research (2019-2023), where she led the Incubator stage of Collaborative Collision, which included partnerships and science communication fundamentals in a team-science based program. She led FSU’s Broader Impacts Team, which was selected as part of the National Science Foundation-supported ARIS-ORIC Cohort for Enhancing Organizational Research Impact Capacity in 2023. She has also served as a grant reviewer for arts organizations including the Council on Culture and Arts (COCA) and the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA).
