André Peele

André Peele is a bass-baritone hailing from North Carolina. He has performed with companies across the United States, including Piedmont Opera, Opera Wyoming, Pittsburgh Festival Opera, Peach State Opera, Virginia Opera, the Jackson Symphony, and The Princeton Festival. Peele’s educational training includes a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from the UNC School of the Arts, a Master of Music in Voice Performance from Florida State University, a Professional Artist Certificate in Opera from the A.J. Fletcher Opera Institute, and a Doctor of Music in Music Performance from Florida State University.

Having received a Master of Science in Educational Psychology degree in the Learning and Cognition program at Florida State University, Peele demonstrates a deep commitment to music education and advocates for equitable pedagogy. This Fall Peele will be giving a presentation entitled “The Future of Voice Performance Programs: A Unified Curriculum for Classical, Musical Theatre, and Contemporary Singers” at the Curriculum for Change Conference presented by the Lincoln Center as well as a presentation entitled “Teaching the Whole Voice: Reframing Resistance through Cultural Responsiveness and Ecological Insight” at the Context Conference presented by the Eastman School of Music.

Beyond his musical endeavors, Peele is an accomplished stage photographer, capturing the essence and artistry of fellow performers. He also shares his expertise and insights as the podcast host of “So You Went to School for Singing” (SYWTSFS).
