The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Music Education with a concentration in Orchestral Conducting is for individuals who plan to conduct undergraduate and graduate string and orchestral ensembles in college/university settings. Conducting students encounter a wide variety of experiences working with large ensembles at both the auditioned and non-auditioned collegiate level. Graduate conductors serve as an integral part of the FSU string and orchestral areas and are involved in all aspects of running the collegiate programs. These experiences provide individuals with a comprehensive understanding and invaluable training for developing essential conducting and leadership skills, enhancing versatility, and increasing marketability in today’s competitive professional landscape.
