Playbill Ranks FSU as Top Ten School for Broadway
FSU College of Music and School of Theatre Recognized by
Entertainment Publication as Top Ten College for Broadway Bests
Florida State University has been recognized in a recent Playbill Online article as one of the top ten colleges currently represented on Broadway. Playbill Online created the list by tracking where major members of the cast and creative teams on each Broadway show went to college. FSU ranks 10th on the list, alongside schools such as New York University, The Julliard School, and Northwestern University.
Fourteen graduates are named in the article representing shows such as The Book of Mormon, Les Misérables, and Mamma Mia! Of the names mentioned, Stephen Anthony (shown above at far left, backstage for The Book of Mormon), Mike Evariste, Greg Mills, and Martin Sola are alumni of the College of Music’s Bachelor of Music in Performance – Music Theatre track. The remaining ten are alums of the School of Theatre’s Bachelor of Fine Arts program in Music Theatre. (The full Playbill Online article can be found online here.)
The College of Music’s Bachelor of Music in Performance – Music Theatre track is a professional program run jointly with the School of Theatre and in cooperation with the School of Dance. Students are trained by faculty from each department, allowing them the opportunity to develop as “triple threats” in singing, acting, and dancing. Having honed skills in each area, graduates are thoroughly prepared to begin careers outside of academia. Additional information about the FSU Music Theatre program can be found on the College of Music website, here.
Congratulations to the FSU College of Music and School of Theatre, all those involved in the Music Theatre program at FSU, and all of our amazing alumni!
