The College of Music is excited to present a special guest artist residency featuring acclaimed pianist Boris Giltburg. This residency spans March 1st through March 3rd and includes two piano masterclasses and a solo piano recital. Mr. Giltburg’s performance is part of the Housewright Virtuoso Series and will feature works by Ravel, Schumann, and Prokofiev.

“The College of Music is thrilled to have Boris Giltburg in our community for several days in early March to share his expertise with our students and his music with our audiences. His worldwide experience in the greatest performance venues and with many of the world’s finest orchestras means he brings a deep understanding of today’s performance environment,” says Dr. Greg Jones, Associate Dean for Outreach and Engagement for the College of Music. “Our community of music will make an impactful personal connection with him through masterclasses, performance and in the many special moments and conversations that a Housewright residency offers. They will find him a passionate and inspired thinker, writer, teacher and performer of our art!”

Mr. Giltburg has performed in some of the world’s most famous venues, including Carnegie Hall, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Hamburg Elbphilharmonie, London Southbank Centre, and Tokyo Toppan Hall. He has also performed with prestigious orchestras worldwide, including the London Philharmonic, Czech Philharmonic, Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie, Oslo Philharmonic, Baltimore and Seattle symphonies, Israel Philharmonic, and the NHK Symphony.

“One of the most passionate and poetic artists of his generation, the Moscow-born Israeli pianist will give a stunning recital in Opperman Music Hall and masterclasses with College of Music students on the 2nd and 3rd,” says Dr. Read Gainsford, Professor of Piano at the FSU College of Music. “On top of his phenomenal piano-playing, Giltburg is a keen blogger, a collaborator on video projects, and an arranger.”

Masterclasses will take place on Wednesday, March 2 at 2:30 PM and Thursday, March 3 at 11:00 AM in Opperman Music Hall. These events are free and open to the public.

Mr. Giltburg’s solo recital will take place on Tuesday, March 1 at 7:30 PM in Opperman Music Hall; general admission is $10.
