College of Music Joins University in 1st Festival of Creative Arts

From October 6-9, the College of Music collaborated with the Office of Research and several other departments across the University in the inaugural Festival of the Creative Arts. With funding from the Provost of the University, Associate Professor of Organ Iain Quinn served as Festival Director. About the festival, Quinn said, “the festival is a celebration of the diversity of creative talent on campus, with the participation of more than 300 students and faculty, we have six first performances, documentary screenings, concerts, events for children, symposia, author readings, MagLab activities, the Marching Chiefs and the Circus.” Out of the several events, the College of Music hosted five: two education symposiums with music and arts faculty members, a collaborative performance between College of Music and College of Fine Arts faculty members, a joint performance by the Marching Chiefs and the Flying High Circus, and a performance by the University Symphony Orchestra featuring a world premiere and a rarely heard work.

The College of Music is proud to have participated in this multidisciplinary event and celebration of the arts and sciences, and thanks the FSU Office of Research for allowing this wonderful event to take place across campus.
