Sounds of the FSU Percussion Studio

Enjoy these excerpts of FSU Percussion Ensemble and other percussion-related ensemble highlights from our concerts: just be sure to monitor the volume levels on your speakers! The files are posted in AIFF format (for multiple platforms), and may take a few seconds to load. You can also check out tracks from the Dusk CD by clicking here. All files are best downloaded to Windows Media Player software, and all recordings are "live."

NEW STUFF! You can check out a brand-new page of sound design experiments featuring the Altiverb 6.3.1 convolution reverb. Click here and get ready!

Also, three new sound clips from 2008-09 rehearsals and concerts are posted below. Check them out! Be careful, though--some are really powerful and can damage speakers; be sure to lower your system volumes BEFORE opening the files.

Purge (Anders Astrand) LIVE from our April 19, 2009 concert with Anders performing on vibraphone. Enjoy some truly inspirational playing!

Quick Blood
(Adam Silverman) from our third rehearsal this semester (Spring 2009). Recorded in our Percussion Studio.

Hohner (David Maslanka) from our last rehearsal recording before the Fall 2008 Percussion Ensemble Concert. Recorded in our Percussion Studio.

Fanfare for the Return of Shadow (Brett Dietz) also from our last week of rehearsal recordings; this new piece by Brett Dietz commemorates Michael Burritt's return to the Eastman School, and was commissioned by Keith Aleo and the Interlochen Percussion Ensemble. Enjoy!

Sleepless (Dan Moore) our special guest at the end of November, wrote this for the Iowa Percussion tour to China. This recording is from the last run in our rehearsals before Dan's solo recital at FSU.

Turbine (John Mackey) from the 2007 National CBDNA convention, performed by our Wind Orchestra--live recording from Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Don Juan (Richard Strauss), University Symphony Orchestra
