STEVEN
N. KELLY, is an Associate Professor of Music
Education in the College of Music at Florida
State University, where he teaches undergraduate
and graduate music education classes and
coordinates in the music internship program.
Additionally, Dr. Kelly is the Director
of the FSU Summer Music Camps, one of the
country’s oldest and largest summer
music camps. His primary research interests
include sociological aspects of music education,
teacher training, and performing ensembles.
He
has been an active clinician, adjudicator,
consultant, and guest conductor across the
Midwest and Southeast United States. Dr.
Kelly has published in international and
national journals, and regularly presents
papers and workshops at state, regional,
and national conferences. Dr. Kelly is the
former chair of the MENC Affective Response
Special Research Interest Group, past President
of the Florida College Music Educator’s
Association, and past Treasurer of the Florida
Music Educators Association. He currently
serves on the editorial boards of the Journal
of Research in Music Education, Research
Perspectives in Music Education, and
the Florida Music Director.
Professor
Kelly received his bachelor and master degrees
in music from the University of North Carolina
at Greensboro and his Ph.D. in music education
from the University of Kansas. An instrumental
music specialist, Dr. Kelly taught in the
Virginia public schools, and on the faculties
at Brevard College and the University of
Nebraska at Omaha. |
