bulletAs the third-largest music program in higher education, the College’s comprehensive curricula embrace all traditional areas of music and world music study from the baccalaureate to the doctoral level. As one of the leading music institutions in the world, the College enjoys an international reputation. On average, over 40 states and 30 foreign countries are represented in our student population.

bulletThe College is home to two Grammy award winners, a former concert master of the New York Philharmonic, a Pulitzer prize-winning composer, a Guggenheim Memorial Fellowship recipient, a former leading tenor of the Metropolitan Opera, and the world's preeminent scholar in medical music therapy.

bulletIn its most recent survey of music programs, U.S. News & World Report ranked quality of the College of Music 12th in the nation and fifth among programs at public universities.  The Opera program in the College of Music ranks fifth in the nation and third among programs at public universities according to the same report.


Ruby Diamond Revival: Inside Florida State University's Historic Renovation

Florida State University's historic Ruby Diamond Auditorium has been the venue for many musical performances for more than 50 years. Acts gracing the Ruby Diamond stage range from the university's symphony orchestra to country legend Willie Nelson. Now the aging auditorium is undergoing a major renovation, which will transform it into a world-class performance hall.more
