JOHN GERINGER, is the Lewis V. Pankaskie Professor of Music and Director of the Center for Music Research. He teaches courses in Perception and Cognition of Music, Research in Music, Acoustics and Psychoacoustics of Music, and related areas.

Dr. Geringer's research publications appear in leading international and national journals in Music Education, Music Therapy, and Music Psychology. He serves on several journal editorial boards and regularly presents results of his research at professional meetings including the Music Educators National Conference, the American Music Therapy Association, and the National Symposium for Research in Music Behavior. Professor Geringer is an active contributor to the International Society for Music Education. He has presented results of his research in Australia, Canada, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Latin America.

Dr. Geringer recently received the Senior Researcher Award from the Music Educators National Conference and the Distinguished Alumni Citation from the Florida State University College of Music. Professor Geringer taught at the University of Texas for 26 years following degrees from the University of California at Berkeley, California State University, and Florida State University. He was appointed to the FSU faculty in 2002.
