The
College of Music offers M.M. and Ph.D. degree programs
in Musicology (with a track in Ethnomusicology). The programs provide
comprehensive studies in world music performance areas
and rigorous studies in theoretical areas (including
diasporic studies, cognitive ethnomusicology, medical
ethnomusicology {music and healing}, global popular
music, jazz research, historical ethnomusicology, multicultural
music education, ethnoarchaeomusicology, and others)
and geographic areas (including Africa, Central Asia,
East Asia, Southeast Asia, the Caribbean, North, Central,
and South America, Europe, and others). The Musicology
division encourages a stimulating and challenging academic
environment where musicologists (ethnomusicologists
and historical musicologists) work closely together
with students, providing extensive opportunities in
research, teaching, performing, and other practical
skills necessary for a successful career in the discipline. |
