Florida State / College of Music / Quicklinks / Music Library / Research Resources / Available Equipment
Available Equipment
The library provides the following equipment for use by library patrons. Note that the seminar room (090M) and its equipment, while physically located in the library, are not under our jurisdiction. Permission to use the room or the equipment inside must be secured from Tiawana Meeks in room 202D of the Housewright Music Building.
Audio equipment
The bottom floor of the library contains eleven listening carrels for public use. Each station features a CD player, cassette deck, and LP turntable. Headphones may be checked out as reserve items at the circulation desk.
Video equipment
The library has four DVD players, three VCRs, and two laserdisc players available for public use. The DVD players require the use of remotes, which may be checked out as reserve items from the circulation desk.
Photocopiers
There are three photocopiers on the bottom floor of the library, in a room near the circulation desk, and one on the upper floor near the periodicals. All four accept FSU cards or refillable visitor copy cards; copies are $0.08 per page with a card. One machine in the copy room also accepts coins, at $0.10 per page.
There is a machine in the copy room that sells visitor copy cards, which will also work in campus vending machines. A cash-to-chip machine is also located in the copy room for adding money to cards.
Photocopiers are maintained by Campus Services. If you find that any of them are out of order and not marked as such, please notify someone at the circulation desk so that we can place a repair order.
Microform readers
The library has two microform readers, each of which will handle both microfilm and microfiche. One is a reader only; the other may be used either to scan film (at no charge) or print to the adjacent photocopier ($0.08 per page; copy card required). Instructions for using the scanner are in a folder by the machine, and may also be read online as a PDF file.
The computer attached to the scanner lacks network access, so you will need a flash drive or similar device to transfer your scanned files off the computer.
Specialized equipment
These items are not freely available out on the floor of the library, but may be used by arrangement. It is usually possible to use any of the following on short notice, but it is safest to make arrangements at least a day in advance. Ask for help at the circulation desk or contact one of our full-time staff to set up an appointment.
- Reel-to-reel players
